Founded in 1985, the Albéniz Guitar Duo has performed over five hundred concerts all over Europe. This, combined with their seven CD releases on the Fono label have assured them a unique place in today’s German/ European concert circuit. The Albéniz Guitar Duo´s colorful and varied repertoire has inspired several well-known composers to write and dedicate compositions to them. These modern works, along with established masterpieces from the baroque to the present provide a balanced mix of the old and the new in their programming. The Albéniz Guitar Duo also performs frequently with orchestra. They have played Rodrigo’s popular Concierto Madrigal more than fifty times internationally.
Founding member Burkhard Wolk was born in 1949 and studied the guitar in Berlin and Cologne. He was a prize winner in the Volos International Guitar Festival in Greece in 1982. Since 1985, he has released two solo CD´s besides the seven duo CD´s with the Albéniz Duo.
